About CFSK
For decades, the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas has helped community-minded people propel their charitable goals. Whether you know exactly which causes you want to support or if you have a philanthropic heart and are not sure where to start, we stand by, ready to help you with your charitable goals. The Foundation is governed and administered by a volunteer board of directors and is designed to serve the donor's wishes, special concerns, and interests. From the donor making a one-time gift to those interested in leaving a legacy, the Foundation's mission is to "improve the quality of life in the Southwest Kansas area by providing ongoing philanthropic leadership and maintaining and enhancing the educational, social, cultural, health, and civic resources of the community". The Foundation pools the assets and represents the ideas and interests of people who want to increase the impact of their philanthropy. It is not a place to give money, but rather a method for giving money.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Community Foundation for Southwest Kansas is to encourage giving and inspire action that improves lives in our communities.
The Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas gives citizens of the area the opportunity to make a lasting gift to a community which has been good to them.
The Foundation receives and manages capital of all amounts from individuals, families, businesses and foundations. The income from this capital is applied to uses that serve the best interests of the community.
The Foundation offers a very personal way for any citizen to make a meaningful contribution to the quality of life in Southwest Kansas; a gift in perpetuity to charity or to a field of interest; the earnings of a gift which can be applied to charities which need it most; a memorial gift/gifts which will make Southwest Kansas a better place in which to live and work.

The Board of Directors form the heart of the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas. Board members are elected to staggered terms to help assure a continuous flow of new ideas and to promote accountability to the public.
Fund Management
All gifts will be managed by an Investment Committee of respected and experienced individuals who will be responsible to assure both safety and optimum return on investments. The Investment Committee meets regularly to monitor investment activity.
Annual Audit
Each year an independent CPA firm performs an audit of financial records and produces an opinion on compliance and accuracy of those records. A complete copy of our audit is available upon request.
Public Availability of IRS Forms 990 and 990-T
Each year a detailed report is filed with the Internal Revenue Service. A copy of form 990 is available upon request. Form 990-T is available upon request for the years in which it is filed.
