Scholarship information

The Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas Scholarship Program reflects a direct effort to recognize and reward those students who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding academic achievement in high school and college and tend to be a worthy student of good character.

For a student to be eligible to receive a scholarship award, they must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited institution. Scholarship applications will be available December 1st. The deadline to return the application is February 1st. Access the Scholarship Application here.

The application cannot be filled out on-line but must be printed out, completed manually, and mailed to this office.

A scholarship committee of local people who have knowledge of financial aid and scholarship programs, study all the applications and make recommendations to the Board for those qualified to receive scholarship funds. Some scholarship areas covered are education, medical, music, agribusiness, photography, and graphic arts, which can be used by recipients from certain areas, cities, and states. An average of 30 to 35 different colleges are attended each year. Please contact us for further information.

Juanita Abell Pyle scholarship

To qualify for the Juanita Abell Pyle Scholarship you must be a graduate of either Minneola High School or Ashland High School and pursuing post secondary education from a community college or technical school. This scholarship is open to both traditional and non-traditional students.

The award is currently $3,000 per school year payable for up to 5 semesters.

Applications must be submitted to the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas prior to June 30th each year for the upcoming academic year. When initially applying, you must include an official high school transcript along with your application. Applicants must reapply each school year, and provide proof of enrollment each semester.  Proof of enrollment must include: student name, name of school, term of enrollment, and a class schedule proving they are a full time student enrolled in at least 12 hours.
